Joyn Insurance’s Spark system, powered by Solartis Insure’s Policy Administration Microservices, wins the 2023 Celent model insurer award for digital and emerging technologies.

Joyn’s digital workflow platform Spark is an end-to-end underwriting and policy administration system for Middle Market commercial lines of business. Joyn Insurance developed Spark, using the Solartis policy life cycle microservices to transform their largely manual process and to enable underwriters to work more effectively. The Spark platform provides a low ongoing technology spend, provides continuous development, and dramatically improves the efficiency and accuracy of the underwriting process which leads to a better customer experience.

The Spark platform provides four benefits to its broker partners:

Ease of Doing Business – Spark automatically ingests submission documents and pulls data from third-party sources, which reduces the number of questions to the broker.
Efficiency and Responsiveness – If the submission is out of the acceptable risk appetite, Joyn will provide a quick “no” decision. Otherwise, Joyn will acknowledge every submission and turn it around quickly.
Consistency – Initial premiums are machine-generated by Spark, and Joyn’s underwriters are provided underwriting guidance and guardrails by the platform. As a result, their broker partners should expect consistent and unbiased underwriting from Joyn.
Quality – Joyn’s quote and policy documents are automatically generated, which virtually eliminates errors and significantly reduces the time taken to produce and provide these documents.
